Vow # 1

"Will you, _______, have _____ to be your wife/husband? Will you love her/him, comfort and keep her/him, and forsaking all other remain true to him/her as long as you both shall live?" ("I will")

(Repeat) "I, ________, take thee ______, to be my wife/husband, and before God and these witnesses I promise to be a faithful and true wife/husband."

(Rings) "With this ring I thee wed, and all my worldly goods I thee endow. In sickness and in health, in poverty or in wealth, 'til death do us part."

Vow # 2

I, (Party #1), take you (Part #2) to be my husband/wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our friendship and love you today, tomorrow, and forever. I will trust you and honor you I will laugh with you and cry with you. I will love you faithfully through the best and the worst, through the difficult and the easy. What may come I will always be there. As I have given you my hand to hold so I give you my life to keep so help me God.

In unison: Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you, For where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. And where you die, I will die and there I will be buried. May the Lord do with me and more if anything but death parts you from me.

Vow # 3

(Party #1), as we stand before both God and man making public our commitment to one another, I wish to make it known that I recognize God's authority over my life, which is exercised from His loving heart. He has chosen me to be one of His own, and has since been my life. I recognize also that He has blessed me, and entrusted to me your life as an unearned gift. In recognition of these things, I, (Party #1), take you, (Party #2), to be my husband/wife. I purpose to love you with His love, to provide for your needs through His enablement, and to lead you as He leads me, as long as He gives me life, regardless of circumstances. (Party #2) I look forward to establishing a home where Christ is glorified. Toward that end I promise to allow God to use you in my life as He sees best in building me into His person. I thank Him for your love and friendship.

I (Party#2), take you, (Party #1), to be my husband/wife. With the greatest joy I come into my new life with you. Today I am reminded of James l:17 which says, "Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." Besides the gift of salvation, you are the most precious gift God has given me. I know that along with the new joys God has given me, I face new responsibilities that I cannot fulfill in my own strength. But by God's grace and power working within me, I desire to be trustworthy as your husband/wife, to serve and love you in all circumstances, to obey you, to allow God to use you to build His qualities in me, as long as God give us life on this earth. I praise God continually for you, (Party #1), and for your love and friendship.

Vow #4

Buddhism

“In the future, happy occasions will come as surely as the morning.
Difficult times will come as surely as the night.
When things go joyously, meditate according to the Buddhist tradition.
When things go badly, meditate.
Meditation in the manner of the Compassionate Buddha will guide your life.
To say the words ‘love and compassion’ is easy.
But to accept that love and compassion are built upon patience
and perseverance is not easy.”

Vow #5

Genesis 2: 22-24

(Party #2), as God gave Eve to Adam to become his helper, I believe that God has placed the two of us in each other’s lives so we could help each other grow in His love. In the time that I have known you before this day, you have done so much more than help me. You have inspired me, taught me, even enlightened me. My days with you I believe are like what days must be in God’s heaven.

I love you, (Party #1), and I promise to be more than just your helpmate in the faith, but also to be your lover, your steadfast supporter, the provider of your needs, and your best friend. I promise to love you and cherish you, to respect and protect you for as long as I live, regardless of the obstacles and challenges that come our way, until death do us part.

Vow # 6

Song of Songs 1: 2-3

My beloved (spouse's name), on the day that I first met you, I knew at once that you were the one that God chose for me to be my partner, the person who shall be one flesh with me, the one whom I shall call my one and only love for as long as I live. You are, to me, beautiful: beautiful, not just in face, but also in spirit. You are a wonder to behold, and I am grateful to the Lord Almighty that He has chosen to give you to me.

And so, my beloved (spouse's name), place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm, as King Solomon has said. My love for you is as strong as death, as strong as my belief in the God Who created us. I promise to you that the flames of my love shall never waver for as

Vow # 7

Corinthians 13: 4-8

My darling (spouse's name), as our Lord Almighty teaches us through the words of Saint Paul, "love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Most of all, love never fails.

Love never fails, (spouse's name). And as I walk with you down the path that our Lord God has set for us, I promise you that despite whatever challenges and obstacles may come our way, I shall always strive and pray to keep my love for you as pristine and unfailing as the love that our Lord God has for us. I shall be the friend and the lover that you can always count on to support you and provide you with your needs and that of the family we shall build together. I shall love you and only you until the time our Lord takes us into His Kingdom forevermore.

Vow # 11

Party #1

Party #2, we read in Genesis, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife," and in Proverbs "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing." He has ordained that the husband be the head of the wife. He instructs me, as the one who will be your husband, to love you as Christ loves the Church. It is my desire and delight to follow this scriptural teaching. With all my heart, I make this pledge to you.

Party #2

Party #2, the Lord instructs me as the one who will be your wife to submit to you as unto Him. Our Father created woman to be man's helper. It is my desire and delight to follow this scriptural teaching. With all my heart I make this pledge to you.

Vow #12

Party #1

Party #2, I love you. Today is a very special day. Long ago you were just a dream and a prayer. This day like a dream come true the Lord Himself has answered that prayer. For today, Party #2, you as my joy become my crown. I thank Jesus for the honor of going through time with you. Thank you for being what you are to me. With our future as bright as the promises of God, I will care for you, honor and protect you. I lay down my life for you, Party #2, my friend and my love. Today I give to you me.

Party #1

Party #1, I love you and I know you love me. I am confident that God has chosen you to be my husband. It is my prayer and desire that you will find in me the helpmeet God designed especially for you, and in confidence I will submit myself unto your headship as unto our Lord. Therefore, Party #1, I pledge to you my life as an obedient, faithful and loving wife. Whither thou goest I will go, whither thou lodgest I will lodge, Thy people shall be my people, And thy God my God.

Vow #13

Party #1

Party #2, I love you and I know that this love is from God. Because of this, I want to be your husband so that we might serve Christ together. Through all of the uncertainties and trials of the present and future, I promise to be faithful to you and love you. I promise to guide and protect you as Christ does his church, as long as we both shall live. God's Word gives us the perfect example of this love in Christ's death for the Church. I shall try always, with God's help, to show you this same kind of love, for I know that in His sight we will both be one.

Party #2

Party #1, I love you. I prayed that God would lead me to his choice. I praise Him that tonight His will is being fulfilled. Through the pressures of the present and uncertainties of the future I promise my faithfulness, to follow you through all of life's experiences as you follow God, that together we may grow in the likeness of Christ and our home be a praise to Him.

Vow #14

Party #1

Party #2 , as we stand before both God and man, making public our commitment to one another, I wish to make it known that I recognize first of all God's authority over my life which is exercised from His loving heart. He has chosen me to be one of his own, and He is now my life. I recognize also that He has blessed me and entrusted to me your life as a free gift that I have not earned. In recognition of these things, ____ I purpose to love you with His love, to provide for your needs through His enablement, and to lead you as He leads me, as long as He give us life together, regardless of the circumstances. As Psalm 34:3 expressed my heart when I asked you to marry me, so it expresses my heart now: "O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together."

Party #2

On this special day, Party #1, I am reminded of the verse James 1:17 which says, "Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." With a gift such as you, I know that many new responsibilities face me. In I Corinthians, it explains "It is required of a steward to be found trustworthy." I cannot do this on my own strength, Party #1, but by God's grace and power working within me I desire to be trustworthy as your wife by following your leading submissively, even as unto Christ, loving and serving you in all circumstances as long as He give me life on this earth.

(The Officiant will quietly suggest they loose hands; then Party  #1 with his/her right hand will take the right hand of Party #2 and repeat).

Party #2

I, Party #2, take you Party #1, to be my wedded husband/wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love land to cherish, till death do us part, or the Lord comes for His own, and hereto I pledge you my faithfulness.
