A Spiritual Elopement

Welcome
Hello and be welcome, because today is your wedding day, and we all know that a wedding is the celebration of the miracle of love. Name and Name, today in the presence of God/the Universe/family and friends. We have gathered here to celebrate this once in a lifetime miracle in your lives. There are many words to describe love and all of its different meanings.  So, as we start today’s celebration here are some wonderful words, which again are only words, because only you can truly define the true meaning of love.
Love is patient, and kind. Love is no jealous or boastful.
Love is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way.
Love doesn’t not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices with the right.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails.

Charge to the couple
And as we all know, learning to love each other and to live together in harmony is one of the greatest challenges of marriage. Marriage is not to be entered lightly, and we are to hold it in high honor at all times. While the commitment begins with the two of you, its effect radiates outward. It touches your family and friends and ultimately all of society. When this commitment is seriously made and continuously fulfilled, it leads to the richest and most rewarding of human relationships.
This is, I am sure, what you Name, want for Name and it is also what you, Name, want for Name. It is also what your family and friends who are gathered here want for the two of you. When a couple treats each other with kindness, love, and respect, the best of what marriage has to offer is the result.
Your relationship will take more than love. It will take trust, to know in your hearts that you want only the best for each other. Dedication, to stay open to one another, to learn and grow, even when it is difficult to do so. And faith, to go forward together without knowing what the future holds for you both. While love is our natural state of being, these other qualities are not as easy to come by. They are not a destination, but a journey. Marriage is a give and take between two personalities, a mingling of two endowments which diminishes neither, but enhances both. You’re joining together today becomes all the more important to recognize the significance of a devoted and affectionate family life.

(Optional)
Name and Name, I charge you both as you stand in the presence of God/the Universe/Family and Friends, to remember that love, trust, and loyalty are the foundation of a happy and enduring marriage. No vows are more sacred than those you are about to make. If these vows are kept unbroken, as you endeavor to do the will of the Heavenly Father, your lives to together will be full of joy and love.

Rings
Having this love in your hearts, you have chosen to seal your vows by exchanging rings.
From the earliest times, the circle has been a sign of completeness. The rings that you have chosen to wear have neither beginning nor end, much like your love for one another. They are a symbol of the words that you speak today. May these rings be from this day forward, your most treasured adornment, and may the love they symbolize, be your most precious possession. As you wear these rings, may they be constant reminders of these glad promises you are making today.

(Optional)
Again, Lord/Divine Spirit/ Universe we ask for your blessing.
Bless the gifting and receiving these rings of marriage. May Name and Name be forever true to this union. May the seamless circle of these rings become the symbol of their endless love and serve to remind them of the holy covenant they have entered into today.
Amen.

Name, as you place your ring on Name’s finger please repeat after me-
Just as this ring encircles your finger, so does my love encircle your heart. May this ring forever be a symbol of my love for you. With this ring today I marry you now and forever.
Name its now your turn.
Name, as you place your ring on Name’s finger please repeat after me-
Just as this ring encircles your finger, so does my love encircle your heart. May this ring forever be a symbol of my love for you. With this ring today I marry you now and forever.

As you continue on your journey together, everyone always has advice for newlyweds. In finding one anther you have discovered that ‘key’ to fit your ‘lock’, so in that spirit here a few words of advice for you to thing on as you journey on your lives together.
The key to love is understanding, as it is the little things that say so much by themselves. Remember that to love is to forgive, to accept each other’s faults and pardon mistakes, that person is unique and special in their own way. A key to loving one another is sharing good fortunes as well as bad, together.
And finally, a key to love is giving, giving without thought of return, but with the hop of just a simple smile, and giving in but never giving up.

(Optional)
May your love never fade,
May you never take each other for granted, and when you are old may you be found hand in hand still thanking God/ the Universe, for each other never forget to treat each other with tenderness, kindness, and respect, and remind yourselves often of what drew you together in the first place.

Pronouncement
As you Name and Name have consented together in holy matrimony before God/the Universe, and have pledged your vows to each other, and have exchanged rings as tokens of your love and commitment to each other. In accordance with the laws of the state of Colorado, with the authority of God’s/the Universe will and with great joy I now pronounce you husband/wife/partner.
May the Lord/ the Universe bless you and keep you,
May the Lord/ the Universe shine on you,
And be gracious with you.
May God/ the Universe give you peace.
You may kiss!
It is with great pleasure to announce you both now married!

Share the Joy
Welcome
Let us be welcome to the marriage of Name and Name
(Optional)
You have been asked to gather here to witness and share in the joy of this union.

Today is the day that you proclaim to the world your love and commitment to each other. Each and every day you get to choose to be married to each other, so here are a few words to help you remember the promises that you are making today. So as we go forward today, I have a few words for you to consider as a basis for your new lives together.
It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted.
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.
It is promising to love and cherish you throughout the good times and bad times.
It is remembering to put dirty clothes in the hamper and to replace the toilet paper roll when it's empty.
It is comforting you when your teams loses and drink beer with you when they win.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating
gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not expecting the husband to wear a halo or the wife to have wings of an angel.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is loving each other for who you each are for each other.
It is not only marrying the right partner,
it is being the right partner.

Charge to Couple
There are many things to say about marriage. Much wisdom concerning the joining together of two souls, has come our way through all paths of belief, and from many cultures. With each union, more knowledge is gained, and more wisdom gathered. Though we are unable to give all this knowledge to these two, who stand before us, we can hope to leave with them the knowledge of love and its strengths and the anticipation of the wisdom that comes with time. The law of life is love unto all beings. Without    love, life is nothing. If we learn no more in life, let it be this–There are many people in the world who dream of having a life full of the wonderment of love that you share. Today you have given each other into the keeping of the one who loves you the most. They are banishing the darkness that sometimes life's challenges give to us, and have given you wings to travel on a shared journey of life. You are making two lives into one.

Rings
Name and Name you have just made promises love and devotion to each other. These rings are symbols of the those vows you have just spoken. Words are intangible and difficult to hold onto, so the rings becomes a vessel which will hold the words you have given to one another. The words of “loving and cherishing,” “for better and for worse,” “honor and respecting,” are now encased in the ring. It is a physical way to hold on to the promises made to you.

(Optional)
Name, could you please step forward and gift this couple standing before you their ring(s)?
In so doing giving your blessing and good wishes to this new marriage?
Thank you.

Name, could you please repeat after me and place your ring Name’s  finger.
You were my yesterday, you are my today, you will be my tomorrow. All I am I give to you. With this ring I pledge my love and life to you.

Name, could you please repeat after me and place your ring Name’s  finger.
You were my yesterday, you are my today, you will be my tomorrow. All I am I give to you. With this ring I pledge my love and life to you.

Closing
In the years that will bring you into a greater age and wisdom, I hope that your love shall be ever young; that you shall be able to always recover from moments of despair. In this hope, may you keep these vows made on this day, in freedom, teaching each other who you are, what you will become, enabling yourselves to know that, in the fullness of being, you are more than yourselves and more than each other. You are all of us, and that together we can share joyously the richness of life on this earth, our home.

Inasmuch as Name and Name have declared their love to each other today, I now have the honor and privilege  greet them  as husband/wife/partners in life and love.

You may kiss.
A Celebration for two who are in love

Welcome
The love that we see between Name and Name brought us here today in order that we might share with them the celebration of life’s most sacred promise--the union of two people, each unique in their own right, in marriage.  This union was created by friendship, respect and love. Name and Name bring with them the dreams which drew them together. They bring the fullness of their hearts as a treasure to be shared, and they bring with them the ability to view the world, themselves, and each other with a sense of humor.

(Optional)
Before we begin I would like to ask for a blessing for this couple (and all gathered here today)
Giver of life and love, we give thanks for all the beauty in the world. We give thanks for all that binds us to one another, for all the common experiences which make us kin to each other, for the example of those who have taught us what love is, and for the courage and confidence we have come to know in finding it for ourselves. We give thanks for Name and Name, who have come to this moment as two and will leave it as one, with one life ahead of them. May all that life brings them strengthen the bond they will declare here today. May they give comfort and joy, counsel and strength to each other. And may the home they share shed its peace on them and on all who seek its shelter with them.

Closing
Name and Name , because you have grown in knowledge and love of each other, and because you have agreed in your desire to go forward together, seeking an even richer, deepening relationship because you see in each other that for which there are no words, and because you have pledged yourselves, one to the other, we rejoice to recognize that you are now partners in life.  We rejoice this day in the marriage of Name  and Name .   We celebrate the love that has brought you to this day. With joy that deepens through many years, may you know its meaning and its mystery--how you become truly one in sharing yourselves with one another and in caring for one another, and yet, in love, remain truly two in your uniqueness.

Blessing
May your house be a place of happiness for all who enter it, a place where the old and the young are renewed in each other’s company, a place for growing, a place for music, a place for laughter.  And when shadows and darkness fall within its rooms, may it still be a place of hope and strength for all who enter it, especially for those who are entrusted to your care.  May no person be alien to your compassion.  May your larger family be the family of all humankind.  And may the beauty and the bounty of your love for one another constantly enrich those who are nearest to you and dearest to you.

Declaration of Intent
Name and Name marriage is the promise between two people who love each other, who trust that love, who honor one another as individuals in that togetherness, and who wish to spend the rest of their lives together. It enables the two separate souls to share their desires, longings, dreams, and memories, their joys and sorrows, and to help each other through all uncertainties of life. A strong marriage also nurtures each of you as separate individuals and allows you to maintain your unique identity and grow in your own way through the years ahead. It is a safe haven for each of you to become your best self while together you become better than ever could be alone. You are adding to your life not only the affection of each other, but also the companionship and blessing of a deep trust. You are agreeing to share strength, responsibilities and love. To make this relationship work, therefore, takes more than love. It takes trust, to know in your hearts that you want only the best for each other. It takes dedication, to stay open to one another, to learn and grow, even when it is difficult to do so. And it takes faith, to go forward together without knowing what the future holds for you both.

Vows

time.
Name, please take Name's hand and repeat after me.

I promise from this day forward, to be grateful for our love and our life.
To be generous with my time, my energy and my affection, to be patient with you and with myself.
To fill our life with adventure and our home with laughter, to encourage you to grow as an individual, and inspire you to do so.
To love you completely, these things I pledge before you, our friends and our family.

By the power of your love and commitment to each other, and by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife/partners in life. You may now share your first kiss as husband and wife.

May this day Shine

Welcome
Thank you for coming here today, because here is where everything started. This is the beginning of your new lives, Name and Name in presenting yourselves here today to be joined in marriage, you perform an act of faith. This faith can grow and develop and last, but only if you both decide to make it so. A lasting and growing love is not guaranteed by any ritual. If you would have the foundation of your marriage, be the devotion you have for one another, not just at this moment, but for all the days to come, then treasure the hopes and dreams that you bring here today. Establish that your love will never be blotted out by the common nor obscured by the ordinary in life. Faults will surface where now you find comfort, and admiration can be shattered by the routine of daily life. Dedication, love, and joy can grow only when you nourish them together. So, stand fast in that hope and confidence, having faith in your shared destiny just as strongly as you have faith in yourselves and in one another today. Only with this spirit can you forge a union that will strengthen and endure all the days of your lives.

Vows
It is fitting to speak briefly about love. We live in a world of joy and fear, and we search for meaning and strength in the seeming disorder. We discover the truest guideline to our quest when we realize love in all its magnitudes. Love is the eternal force of life. Love is the force that allows us to overcome all obstacles. May you always remember to give love freely and unconditionally from your heart. Preserve always yourself, your integrity, and your individuality; yet give of yourselves freely to each other.
We've come to the point of your ceremony where you're going to say your vows to one another. But before you do that, I ask you to remember that love – which is rooted in faith, trust, and acceptance - will be the foundation of an abiding and deepening relationship. No other ties are more tender, no other vows more sacred than those you now assume.

Name, do you understand and accept this responsibility, and do you promise to do your very best each day to create a loving, healthy, and happy marriage?
Name
Yes, I will
Please repeat after me
I, Name, take you, Name, as my friend and love, beside me and apart from me, in laughter and in tears, in conflict and tranquility, asking that you be no other than yourself, loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not know yet, in all the ways that life may find us.

Rings
We have come to the part of your ceremony that you will exchange rings. These rings are made of precious metal, but they are made more precious by your wearing them, for they will adorn your loving hands.  May they be a symbol of your eternal love for one another.  As you wear them, may they be a constant reminder to you of one another, and of the deep bond of faith, trust and love which they represent.

Name, please place your ring on Name’s finger and repeat after me.
Name, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I will love you forever.

Name, please place your ring on Name’s finger and repeat after me.
Name, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I will love you forever.

Closing
As we close this ceremony today, let’s take just a moment, look at your hands you are holding, I want you to know that above you are the stars, below you are the stones, as time passes, remember… Like a stone should your love be firm like a star should your love be constant. Let the powers of the mind and of the intellect guide you in your marriage, let the strength of your wills bind you together, let the power of love and desire make you happy, and the strength of your dedication make you inseparable. Be close, but not too close. Possess    one another yet be understanding. Have patience with one another, for storms will come, but they will pass quickly. Be free in giving affection and warmth. Have no fear and let not the ways of the unenlightened give you unease, for love is with you always.
With this statement made of love and trust, which we have just heard, I now wish you to greet you both as husband/wife/partners in life. You may kiss!

A Simple Elopement

Welcome
Let us be welcome to the ceremony that will unite you in marriage. We have gathered here today to celebrate your union, and to honor your commitment to not just gaze at one another, but to look outward together in the same direction.

Declaration of intent
Today, Name and Name proclaim their love to the world, and we rejoice with and for them. In marriage, we give ourselves freely and generously into the hands of the one we love, and in doing so, each of us receives the love and trust of the other as our most precious gift. But even as that gift is shared by two people who are in love, it also touches the friends and family members who, in various ways, support and contribute to the relationship. All of those wonderful people constitute your community, and all of them has played a part in bringing you to this moment. Even though they are not physically here with us today, we carry their thoughts, prayers and blessings with us, on your wedding day.

Name and Name, we are here to remember with you, rejoice with you, and to remember that it is love that guides us on our journeys in life, and to celebrate with you as you begin this journey together. It is in this spirit that you have come here to today to exchange these vows.

Vows

Rings
For thousands of years, lovers have exchanged rings as a token of their vows.
These simple bands are not of great value in themselves but are made precious by your wearing of them. Your rings say that even in your uniqueness you have chosen to be bound together. Let these rings also be a sign that love has substance as well as soul, a present as well as a past, and that, despite its occasional sorrows, love is a circle of happiness, wonder, and delight.

Name, please take Name’s ring and put it on her/his finger, and repeat after me:
Just as this circle is without end, my love for you is eternal Just as it is made of indestructible substance my commitment to you will never fail. With this ring I take you to be my trusted confidante and partner for life.

Name, please take Name’s ring and put it on her/his finger, and repeat after me:
Just as this circle is without end, my love for you is eternal Just as it is made of indestructible substance my commitment to you will never fail. With this ring I take you to be my trusted confidante and partner for life.

Closing
Name and Name, although I’m officiating here today, it is not truly in my power to sanctify, legitimize or bless your relationship in any way, because the two of you have already done that in your hearts. So, by joining hands right now and looking into each other’s eyes, let it be known that you are joined, body and soul in this lifetime, and that this bond is sacred and eternal. And, now that you have stood before me and exchanged these rings and these vows, and have agreed to be married according to the laws of the state of
Colorado, it gives me great pleasure to pronounce you, now married. You may kiss!
