March 2018 - Your License

One of the most popular questions we receive is what to do with the wedding license?

Here are a few most common questions-

1)      How do I get it? And where?

Both parties must go to the license center, show your photo id’s and we recommend paying in cash, as many locations don’t accept checks or credit cards. We have a list of locations that you can go to, please let us know if you need it. You can also apply online, and then all you have to do is just pick it up.

2)      Do we need a witness?

No, Colorado does not require a witness, but you can have up to, 2 adults of over the age of 21 that can sign as witnesses.

3)      Please remember that you should not sign the license with your new name, as its not your legal name until your license has been recorded.

Once you receive your license and your copies back from the county, it has been recorded and you can legally change your name. It’s pretty easy and you can use one of the links on the website or you can do it yourself.

Below is a suggested list of things of places and people to that you will need to contact to get your name changed..
